Master Recycler Newsletter -- March 2024

Congratulations Class 89! / ¡Felicitaciones Clase 89!

Join me in congratulating Master Recycler Class 89 on their recent graduation! What a group of passionate people! They asked great questions, shared their own knowledge with their classmates, and were flexible when the January snow and ice storm forced us to reschedule several tours. I am excited to see what you all do. Go forth, share what you’ve learned, and wear your Master Recycler badge with pride!

Volunteer with the Oregon Reduces Campaign! Training Today!

Gain MR volunteer hours by becoming part of the Waste-Free Advocates Oregon Reduces Campaign! This initiative is powered by volunteers who will go to their local restaurants/coffeeshops and explain why the Bring Your Own option is both legal and important! Businesses that welcome customers bringing their own containers will be asked to put up a window cling to help make that option more visible. Window clings and instructions will be included, and it will be a chance to meet other waste-free advocates.

Survey for Master Recyclers Who Volunteer in Portland

A Note from the City of Portland:

This survey will help us:

  • Schedule a refresher training.

  • Make volunteering easier.

  • Expand outreach to multi-lingual communities.

If you didn’t take the first survey a few months ago, that’s ok, please take this one! If you did take our earlier survey: Thank you! We heard that many of you wanted:

  • A training refresher, both in person and online, around all current topics, as well as new topics, for example, microplastics, youth engagement, repair fairs, etc.

  • Want to interact with other MRs in a social setting.

Please complete this survey by Saturday, March 30.
