What is a Master Recycler?

Master Recyclers take an eight-week course on the latest information on waste prevention and recycling.  They then share this information to their neighbors in Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington county. There are almost 1,000 Master Recyclers, volunteering more than 24,000 hours.

Master Recyclers:

  • Speak to local groups about thoughtful consumption and recycling
  • Create educational resources and displays
  • Staff booths at local events including farmers' markets, neighborhood cleanups, and other local events
  • Design and implement waste reduction plans at home and at work
  • Stay current on solid waste trends through newsletters and follow-up events, and
  • Have FUN while making a difference in the community.
