Comment on Metro Multifamily Changes!

Oct 15 is the deadline

The people of greater Portland are avid recyclers, but there are barriers to recycling for people who live in multifamily housing. Metro is proposing region changes to service code to make recycling more accessible to multifamily communities.

What do you think? If you live in a multifamily home would these service improvements help make recycling easier for you? Your input will help shape the update to Metro regional service standard. Please offer your comments.

Clackamas Food Pantries

Clackamas County recognizes that these times call for pivoting and reevaluating what our work in sustainability means. Food access is a key part of food sustainability, and the need for food access has grown immensely. So the County invites Master Recyclers to use your hours for volunteering at a food pantry. You can even get flyers from the county on how to properly store food people receive. This is a meaningful way to volunteer, they are all locations that use safe distancing practices, and they are really needing our help.

There are three programs through the county:

Eco-schools Board Member

39112161_280907102701491_6630830825237643264_o.jpg

The Eco-School Network equips parents and students to lead school communities toward sustainability. ESN connects students with nature, prepares them to live sustainably, and helps them discover that they can create meaningful change. If you’re passionate about children, schools and sustainability, use your Master Recycler hours to join the Eco-schools board.

The board is a robust group of nine dedicated individuals who work well together. We are shaping this young nonprofit into one that will serve the community for many years and shift the culture and practices of schools toward sustainability. We are particularly looking for individuals of diverse races and backgrounds that represent the communities we serve, as well as individuals with non-profit finance or accounting experience.

Click here for the job description. Please send a letter of interest and an optional resume to jeanne@ecoschoolnetwork.org.  Or call Jeanne Roy at 503-244-0026.  Applications accepted until Thursday, October 23rd at 11:59 p.m.

The next one is Oct 24 in SE Portland

“James is 23 and has autism so it’s a very important and personal goal for our business is to increase equity and diversity.  We’ve recently begun holding these events and plan to have them on a regular basis around the Portland Metro area.

We would love help handing out informational fliers, educating attendees about recycling, and training volunteers. We follow social distancing guidelines and have a mask required policy.”
