Urban Gleaners - Director of Programs

Urban Gleaners is Hiring a Director of Programs!

About Urban Gleaners: 1 in 5 Oregonians live with food insecurity. At Urban Gleaners we collect delicious, fresh food before it can go to waste. And we get it to people who need it. Pure and simple.

We do this through a simple program model that allows us to deliver more than 70,000 pounds of food each month. We pick-up high-quality and wholesome food from donors at restaurants, grocery stores, corporate campuses, event sites, colleges and universities, farms, and food wholesalers. Next, we bring it back to our Central Portland warehouse where we sort and package the donated food into family-sized portions. We deliver this great food to more than 40 sites in the Portland Metro area—at schools through our Food To Schools program, at our public Mobile Markets hosted at parks and apartment complexes.

Equity is Essential: Urban Gleaners is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion by embracing the belief that all people must have access to healthy food. Our perspective is informed by these understandings: • A healthy diversity of perspectives and experiences leads to better processes and more equitable results. • The communities who are impacted most by hunger are the ones most underrepresented in government and community leadership. • The more diverse and inclusive we are as an organization, the more welcoming we can be to the communities we serve, and the more responsive we can be to their needs.
