Thousands of historic Concordia bricks find new homes through community reuse event

In just four hours, community members gave nearly 3,000 historic bricks from the former Concordia University campus a second life.

Layla Horner (Class 97/Clase 97)

Layla Horner (Class 97) is now a Certified Master Recycler with 30 hours! Layla completed most of her hours volunteering at Sabin CDC events in NE Portland, including their Free Market and Exchange event and Play Streets event. She’s also helped them set up a scrap metal recycling program, and volunteered at the Milwaukie Farmers Market. Thank you, Layla, for all your amazing work!

Anusha Sridhara (Class 97/Clase 97)

Anusha Sridhara (Class 97) has reached 30 volunteer hours and is now a Certified Master Recycler! Anusha has volunteered at the Gladstone Community Festival, the Sabin CDC Summer Block Party, and the Milwaukie Farmers Market twice. She also attended the tour of the Recycle On Waste Audit center. Thank you, Anusha! Can’t wait to see what you do next.

Cathy Otto (Class 97) is a certified Master Recycler! She reached her 30 hours by volunteering at various community events providing advice to attendees on reducing food waste, avoiding toxic household products and promoting reuse and repair. Thank you, Cathy! We appreciate all you do.
