Make a Video!

MAKE A VIDEO

Do you have a camera on your phone? Then you have what you need to make a video.

Step One: You can use these scripts and instructions or make up your own.

These scripts are especially designed to talk about food waste and garbage and recycling in the context of the Coronavirus pandemic. Food is harder to get right now, so people are more focused on ideas on how to make it last. The recycling presentation focuses on how to keep garbage and recycling workers safe with actions at home. Soon there will be a script on making greener cleaners and body care products as well.

Laura Nuñez (Class 73) celebrated Earth Day by teaching kids how to sort recycling.

Step two: text 503-545-8976 or email masterrecycler@portlandoregon.gov your video.

It will be branded and uploaded on the new Master Recycler YouTube Channel. Once the video is public, you will receive a link.

Step three: Share the link with your friends, family and community.

Step four: Report hour hours!

  • Keep it short: 3 minutes is ideal.

  • Have all your props ready to go.

  • Keep it simple.

  • Ensure that you are standing in a place where light is in front of you and not behind you.

  • Ensure that there is no background noise.

  • Talk slow and pause between sentences.

  • Have fun!!

YouTube is a public place. So we have a few safety points:

  • Be especially mindful if you decide to have a kid from your household in the video. YouTube does have limited safeguards for children and the Master Recycler program will turn those on if there is a kid in the video, but it is still important to only include your own kids or people in your family.

  • If you do have someone else join you in the video, please let them know that they are releasing the Master Recycler program and partners to use the video.
