Down The River Cleanup - Clackamas

  • 150 South Beavercreek Road Oregon City, OR, 97045 United States (map)

Join us for the 16th Annual Down the River Cleanup! This event is held at the end of every summer season to cleanup the loved (and heavily used) Clackamas River from Milo McIver State Park to Clackamette Park. Over 250 volunteers participate in the event by floating down the river removing trash and debris, and then properly disposing of it with the assistance of Metro. If you're looking for a fun, fast-moving, outdoor event to volunteer at this is the one for you!

We need 4 Volunteer Sorter Captains at Barton, Carver, Riverside, and Clackamette parks along the river to educate volunteers what materials they pull from the river are or are not recyclable. Because this event is so large, we'll have a casual meeting several weeks beforehand going over event logistics and common volunteer questions. Sorter Captains will oversee Sorter Assistants which also help volunteers properly sort materials. This volunteer opportunity offers a lot of interaction with the public in a lively atmosphere. You never know what people toss in there! We'd also love to have an additional 2-4 volunteers at the event BBQ to host a booth and provide tabling outreach. A table and chair would be provided, we'd likely reserve the Clackamas County Recycling and Garbage kit for display.
