Help clean streets, rivers, and beaches in our region for Master Recycler hours!
Learn about SOLVE’s resources, funding and training opportunities so that you can organize or assist in existing cleanups in your community.
We will also learn about efforts lead by people experiencing homelessness and the importance of ensuring cleanups that are respectful and trauma-informed. Ground Score workers have an expertise in how waste impacts campers and how to interact with campers to respectfully support their waste management. It will be important that Master Recyclers understand this program so that we can avoid unintentionally causing harm to people in the community with our cleanup efforts.
We’ll wrap up the evening with break out groups of people wanting to plan similar projects together.
Guest Speakers:
Jaclyn Sisto-Lopez, SOLVE’s Community Engagement Manager, will provide an overview of the programs and resources.
Barbie Weber, founder of Groundscore, will speak about their program Ground Score launched called G.L.I.T.T.E.R. (Ground Score Leading Inclusively Together Through Environmental Recovery) as a city-contracted program that employs people experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity to clean up areas of the city where people are sleeping outside.
