Cracked Pots (Board Member) NE Portland

  • NE Community Senior Center 1820 NE 40th St Portland (map)

Deepen your Master Recycler hours! All time spent as a board member counts.

Cracked Pots is Looking for Potential Board Members

Cracked Pots is a volunteer driven nonprofit focused on educating the public about waste reduction, resource conservation, and creative reuse of materials that would otherwise wind up in the waste stream. Cracked Pots began over 20 years ago and we’ve just held our 20th Reuse Art Show at Edgefield.

Our newest endeavor is ReClaim It!, a store located at 1 North Killingsworth.

The store’s mission is to reuse, repair, and reimagine items rescued from the Metro Central transfer station and sell them. Through our partnerships with Metro and Recology, in 5 years of operation we have diverted over 500,000 pounds from the landfill! The  store is staffed by volunteers and other volunteers glean the materials at the transfer station and clean and repair materials at the store.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for new Board members. It would be wonderful to have some members who are actively involved in Master Recyclers. We are particularly interested in people with some background in financial management/accounting and nonprofit management.

CP Board members play an active role in all aspects of the organization. The Board meets monthly on the first Wednesday for a potluck followed by the meeting. Typically Board members spend 10-20 hours per month serving on committees and participating in CP programs, activities and events.

The board meets the first Wednesday of each month 6-9pm at the NE Community Senior Center.

If you would be interested in talking with an existing Board member or two about what Board membership entails, please contact Chris Carlson, Board President at chrisrmcarlson@gmail.com.
