Metro, 600 NE Grand Ave, Portland, Oregon
Salary: $71,050 - $95,214 annually
Application deadline: Tuesday, September 8, 2015 @ 5:00pm, Pacific
At Metro, we play a big role in helping the greater Portland region plan a sustainable future -- and we believe in walking our talk. That's why we're looking for a smart, experienced and innovative Sustainability Program Coordinator to lead the way within our own organization. If you're the right person for the job, you'll be ready to champion, plan, implement and coordinate projects that advance Metro's sustainable operations. We're committed to reducing our carbon emissions, use of toxic chemicals, solid waste, water consumption and impact on habitat and biodiversity. To make that vision a reality, you'll work with facility managers and park rangers, zoo keepers and venue directors, finance experts and communicators. We hope you'll thrive on Metro's diverse portfolio, which includes garbage transfer stations, 17,000 acres of parks and natural areas, and regional venues such as the Oregon Convention Center, Oregon Zoo, Expo Center and Portland'5 Centers for the Arts.
As Metro's Sustainability Coordinator, you will serve the entire organization -- but you'll have a home base with a fun and talented team in our Property and Environmental Services Department. You will collaborate with colleagues who focus on our operations and our waste and recycling systems, reporting directly to the Resource Conservation and Recycling program director.
So, are you the right person for the job? We're looking for somebody who can take sustainability concepts and put them into place in the real world, knows how to move a project from an idea to an outcome, gets excited about using data to guide decisions, and has a track record of working effectively as part of a team. Come show us how Metro can continue to create a sustainable future from the inside out.
Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental science, planning or related field, and three years experience in sustainability program management, public administration, green building, planning or project management; demonstrated project management experience, including experience managing multiple projects, coordinating with contractors, budgeting and scheduling, or any combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job.
